Scholars from the American sports and weight management research center once did a test on 74 volunteers.
The results show that people who substitute standing for sitting still at work consume only 8-9 more kcals per hour than sitting still.
This means that even if you stand for 8 work hours a day, you will only consume an extra cup of 100 grams plain yogurt, which is about 73 kcals. In other words, standing does consume a little more calories than sitting, but this energy consumption... is too small. So, if you want to control your weight, just standing there is not enough.
